What has happened so far

Shalom dear friends,

It is hard to believe that there has been war in Ukraine for about two weeks and what has happened during this time.

Our German, Polish and Ukrainian staff are doing their best every day to help (Messianic) Jewish people out of Ukraine, to accommodate them temporarily in Poland and from there to find them a place to stay in Europe or Israel.

On the days of 3 and 4 March alone, eight staff members of our Messianic congregation in Kiev brought 168 people across the Ukrainian border. 59 of them already arrived in Germany on 7 March, 93 were still in Poland at that time, six in Moldova, five in Slovakia and another five in Hungary. Another 60-70 families are expected to arrive this week.

At the same time, Polish friends of our staff from Israel have taken in another 200 Jewish people, including more than 100 children. Our Israeli staff are now on their way to Poland to organise a Purim and Passover celebration as well as excursions for the children and to share the love of Yeshua (Jesus) with them. After their return from Poland, our Israeli staff want to start a cell group for Ukrainian Jews who have arrived in Israel in the meantime.

Pray for both our staff and the refugees that God will be especially close to them at this time and that living relationships with their Saviour Yeshua ha Maschiach (Jesus) will develop!

Our staff have asked us to pass on the following concerns:

  • More accommodation is needed at the Ukrainian border for two to three day stays. Anyone who has contact with local churches or organisations is welcome to contact us via the contact form on ukraine.beitsarshalom.org.
  • As the free train connections in Poland are all fully booked, we need other transport options. We need one or two buses with eight or more seats and drivers.
  • In Germany we need Russian and Ukrainian language Bibles to distribute to Jewish people from Ukraine.
  • In order to be able to finance the work (transport, fuel, accommodation, food, Bibles), we need further donations. For this you can use the donation button on ukraine.beitsarshalom.org.
  • We are also looking for sponsors in Germany who are willing to help Ukrainian (Messianic) Jews find their way in Germany. This includes accompanying them when they go to the authorities, translation work, driving services, but also simply listening and being there for people as brothers and sisters. If God puts this ministry on your heart, please contact us at +49-(0)30 / 30 83 81 49 or laskavo-prosymo@beitsarshalom.org.

Thank you very much for your support! Together with you, we are currently making a great contribution to alleviating need and have the opportunity to pass on God’s love to people in a practical way.
